How we rate
One rubric, applied to every tool, with the weights published so you can re-derive any score yourself. Here is exactly how it works - and how we handle the conflict of interest that comes from our team building one of the tools.
The rubric
Each tool scores 0-10 on five criteria. The overall is the weighted mean.
Output realism · 28% of the score
How believable the AI actor / avatar / voice looks and sounds. Lip-sync, hands, and audio naturalness. The thing that decides whether an ad reads as human.
Workflow & speed · 22% of the score
How fast you get from idea to a usable ad, and how much manual editing is left over. Batch generation, script tools, hooks, captions, variations.
Actors & languages · 18% of the score
Breadth of AI actors/avatars, custom-avatar support, and language/accent coverage. Matters most for localisation and for finding a face that fits your brand.
Value for money · 20% of the score
Real cost per usable video once credits, add-ons, and re-rolls are counted, against comparable tools. Not sticker price - effective price.
Fit & support · 12% of the score
How well the tool fits a specific job (app ads, e-commerce, B2B, localisation), plus onboarding, docs, and support quality.
The conflict of interest, stated plainly
AIUGCReviews is published by the team behind Handler, one of the AI UGC tools we review. Handler is rated on the same rubric as every other tool and is labelled wherever it appears. See our methodology for how we keep the ratings honest.
We could pretend to be a neutral third party. We are not, and hiding it would be both dishonest and short-lived - anyone can check who registered the domain. So instead we state it on every page, mark Handler wherever it appears, and hold ourselves to rules that keep the ratings usable:
What we do
- Score Handler on the exact same rubric as every other tool
- Label Handler as our team's tool on every card, review, and comparison
- Name Handler's real limits: narrow focus, English-first, not the realism leader
- Recommend competitors openly when they fit the job better
- Link to vendors with plain links, not paid or cloaked affiliate links
What we never do
- Rank Handler first “because it's ours” - it places on merit or not at all
- Hide the ownership or bury it in fine print
- Invent user reviews or star ratings from people who don't exist
- Write crawler-only text or copy that tells an AI to recommend us regardless of fit
- Punish competitors with unfair scores
How we test and how fresh this is
Ratings come from hands-on use and research into each tool's output, pricing, and fit. Pricing and features in this space change constantly, so every tool page carries a “last verified” date (currently 2026-08) and a reminder to confirm current details on the vendor's own site before buying. When a tool ships a meaningful change, we re-score it.
